Product Manager: TMS Platform

Reporting to: Senior Manager II: Solution Development & Enablement

The Role: The Product Manager is responsible for the strategic product planning, facilitation and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining and implementing the product vision to ultimately ensure customer satisfaction, increased revenue and property partnerships.

Key deliverables and outputs

Governance

  • Cross-Systems governance process to be aligned
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
  • Able to clearly define and implement the TPM processes, methods and toolset for being successful
  • Take overall responsibility for the success and lifecycle of the product, and ensure that everyone is following the product roadmap.
  • Contribute towards the product strategy, vision and product enhancement
  • Creating, facilitating and overseeing the development and project management process

Research and Analysis

  • Able to define clear Product roadmap Short -, Mid – and Long term
  • Understand, research and follow technical trends in the industry and in general
  • Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products, as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage
  • Follow competitors and conduct capability analysis regularly
  • Prioritize what to build and deliver the feature
  • Collecting, analysing and responding to user feedback and data usage
  • Gathering and Evaluating ideas and opinions

Training – Product and Capabilities

  • Provide internal training on how to use the product and customer
  • Able to champion the change management process across the organization
  • Meet regularly with all stakeholders, including product developers, marketing, customer service, finance and company heads.
  • Demonstrate new ideas and features to stakeholders
  • Attend conferences and events related to a product or sector
  • Implement or support marketing campaigns

Technical Product Knowledge (Domain Expertise)

  • Coordinate beta tests
  • Assess and address complex technical risks
  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into requirements
  • Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms and automated systems
  • Use database queries to analyze performance indicators, evaluate experiments etc.
  • Strategic responsibility for driving the development of products
  • Managing various budgets
  • Planning new features and changes to a product
  • Create timelines and roadmaps for developing the product
  • Liaising with the product designers, users of the product and business managers to ensure the product is meeting the business and individual needs
  • Ensure the product is designed as efficiently as possible and that the product builders have access to the latest technologies and techniques
  • Make decisions about the future of the product, which features to prioritise or to disregard
  • Ensure features are being released on time and of high quality
  • Embrace product marketing and ensure aligned product development is applicable

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • BCom Supply Chain Management Degree
  • Industrial Engineering Related Qualification
  • Any additional tertiary qualifications in Warehouse, Transport and or Freight Forwarding (advantageous)
  • Relevant Project Management qualification (advantageous)
  • 8-10 years in a supply chain operations environment
  • 3-5 years’ exposure to Industrial Engineering aspects such as analytics
  • 2-3 years’ exposure to the IT Technical Industry
  • 3-5 years’ in Product Development
  • 3-5 years’ in Supply Chain Operational Business Processes and Systems
  • Negotiating and influencing at Executive Manager Level
